All transmissions of the same model are not identical inside. Larger engines require more clutches than smaller engines. Heavier vehicles require a different calibration than lighter vehicles. Therefore it is always better to stick with your original transmission. Unfortunately that is not always possible, so it’s nice to have the option of installing a rebuilt.
Be vigilant on doing your research when deciding on a vendor to buy your rebuilt transmission from. Watch out for performance shops that promise all kinds of great things for low prices. Those units are discussed widely amongst the rebuilder forums as they fail miserably all over the country.
